Width is the actual width of the fabric, and the distance between the outer warps on both sides of the fabric, also known as the width of the door. The door width is also called Bufeng, which is the name used in Guangdong, and the door width is the name used in the Yangtze River Delta. Now that I know, there are three main kinds of terms used to express the width of fabrics in China: door width, width, and cloth seal. Generally, the unit of fabric width in China is expressed in inches or centimeters.
Generally, the cloth sold by textile factories is side-to-side width, and when using fabrics, garment factories will ask to know the cuttable width of the fabric. The cuttable width is the range that can be used when the fabric is processed. Can be cut width = side-to-side width-2 inches.
Influencing factors of fabric width:
1. The thicker the yarn count, the larger the door width;
2. The heavier the finished product, the smaller the door width;
3. The larger the horizontal shrinkage, the larger the width of the door; (this item generally has a small impact, only 2-3CM up and down)
At present, the common standards for fabric door widths in the market are 36 inches, 44 inches, 56-60 inches, etc., which are called narrow, medium and wide. Fabrics higher than 60 inches are extra wide. Often called wide cloth, the width of ultra-wide fabrics in my country today can reach 360 cm.
